Jenifer Muzer, MA LPC - Clinical Director
Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a master's degree in Counseling Psychology. She received her Master of Arts degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and her bachelor's in Psychology from Central Michigan University. Jenifer has experience working with children diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum using Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy in both home and school settings. She has also been trained in effective evidence-based therapy for working with children with Selective Mutism. Furthermore, Jenifer has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual and group settings. She uses a person-centered approach to better understand and build client relationships. She incorporates various forms of therapy, such as Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or Exposure Therapy, to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals.
Melissa Athmann, MA LPC
Melissa is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a master's degree in Counseling Education/Psychology from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Central Michigan University. She has additional training in the areas of trauma, grief and loss, couples therapy, parenting, child development, learning disabilities, self-injurious behaviors, domestic violence, and parent coordination/mediation. She is recognized for her work with families and parent coordination a nationally recognized child-focused approach to resolving parenting conflicts during divorce. Melissa has worked in Ionia County and Lowell for 20 years, serving families as a counselor and educator. Before this, she worked for over 15 years in education, providing consultation to schools and other agencies in health and development. Melissa has experience counseling children, teens, adults, and families. She uses various counseling techniques to help families and individuals meet their goals.
Moe Dorough, MA LPC
Moe is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Moe earned a master's degree in the field of Counseling Education and Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, emphasizing special education. She received public school and special education administration certifications. Moe worked for 34 years in public education in teaching, counseling, and administration. Some of her most rewarding years of service were as an elementary school principal. After 30 enjoyable years with Lowell Area Schools, she ended her years in public education as the Director of Special Education for Belding Area Schools. Moe has extensive experience working with school-age children in all areas of their learning and social-emotional development. She enjoys working with children experiencing learning difficulties in school or facing emotional or social issues at school and home. Moe has additional training in the areas of childhood grief and trauma, as well as active parenting techniques. She is eager to work with you to assist you in meeting your life goals.
Pam Gregorski, MA LMSW
Pam is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a master's in Social Work from Grand Valley State University and a bachelor's in Social Psychology from Western Michigan University. Her professional experience includes over 20 years working with children, adolescents, and families. Pam has experience counseling children, teens, and families. Pam has experience counseling children, teens, and families faced with anxiety, depression, delinquency, and adjustment or transitions such as divorce, separation, and grief. She has worked professionally within schools, home-based counseling, at-risk adolescent group homes, and private practice. She has been certified and received special training at the Trauma and Loss for Children Institute.
Lisa Krikke, LMSW
Lisa is a Clinical Social Worker who believes we all have stories to tell. Lisa received her MSW from Grand Valley State University and specializes in the areas of grief and loss, anxiety and depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, chronic illness, body image, and maternal mental health. Her empathy and warmth help create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can share, process their stories, and work through their difficulties. She works from a collaborative, strength-based approach while assisting and supporting clients. Her eclectic approach is client-centered and suits the needs of the individual, utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities.
Kim Smith, LMSW
Kim is a Licensed Masters Social Worker and she earned her Master's Degree in Social Work at Indiana University. Kim's years in the social work field include a diverse population including a psychiatric hospital, child protective services, a correctional facility, community mental health, and teaching college. She holds certifications in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), IFS (internal family systems), ADS (acupuncture detox specialist), and has specialized in trauma and substance abuse using various modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, EFT, and many other tools for her clients to succeed in achieving their therapeutic goals. For the past eight years Kim has been a Clinical Supervisor as well providing supervision for limited licensed social workers, and she provides field instructor services for social work students during their time in their master's program.
Nancy Starin, MA LPC
Nancy earned a master's degree in Clinical Counseling from Spring Arbor University. She earned her bachelor's degree in Management from Cornerstone University. Nancy has experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which promotes the development of socially significant behaviors through positive reinforcement with clients who have autism. She also has experience working with people of all ages who may be presenting with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, as well as those trying to adjust to difficult life events such as divorce and loss. She uses a person-centered approach and various techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and art and play therapy. She aims to meet clients where they are and help them holistically foster health and harmony.
Brittany Zukowski, MA LPC LMFT
Brittany is a graduate of the Counseling Education and Counseling Psychology Program at Western Michigan University in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling. She achieved an associate's degree at Grand Rapids Community College, a bachelor's degree in Psychology at Grand Valley State University, and a master's degree in Psychology at the University of Phoenix. She has experience as an adjunct psychology professor with Miller-Motte Technical College in Clarksville, Tennessee, and works in elementary schools. She works with couples, children, families, and individuals with various concerns. She has had specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She counsels from a family systems, cognitive-behavioral, play therapy, and EMDR perspective.
Lauren Wallis, MA LLPC
Lauren earned a master's degree in Counseling with a Clinical Mental Health concentration from Central Michigan University, after earning her bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Child Development. Lauren specializes in working with children and adolescents and has experience working with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and general life changes and adjustment struggles. Lauren provides therapy from a person-centered approach but also uses techniques from various backgrounds, including cognitive behavioral, play therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Rebecca Palmer, MA LMSW
Becky has a master's degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University. She has over 20 years of experience in a variety of mental health settings, including direct case management and crisis evaluations. She has also worked in a psychiatric hospital. Becky has experience working with individuals of all ages and is excited to work with you to help you achieve the goals in your life.
Monica Smelt, BA - Office Manager
Monica is our Office Manager. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Northwood University. She is our numbers person who loves to work with people too. She possesses extensive experience from various non-profit and for-profit organizations. Her wealth of knowledge makes her the grease that keeps our organization functioning well. She can be reached in our Business Office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9-4.
Dave Beach, D.Min MA - Executive Director
Dave brings years of experience in counseling and teaching. He is an award-winning author and educator. Dave holds a Doctorate from Portland Seminary and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Seminary, Portland, OR. Most recently, Dave served as the Mental Health Director at a non-profit agency providing services for combat veterans and first responders. He specializes in trauma, approaches to human suffering, and people of faith in crisis. He wrote much of an undergraduate curriculum in psychology at a nearby university, where he also taught upper-level courses.
